This was my second interview. Click here to view the interview with my uncle.
This was my persuasive email to my family members to get information for my project. Click here to read my persuasive letter.

This is my Prezi of my family tree. I made the background a picture I took of a tree in my backyard last summer since it was my family "tree".

Watch my Stop-motion animation here! I took it of a Christmas tree representing my family heritage of always celebrating Christmas together.

How did you stop motion animation turn out? If you could give it a grade, what would you give it out of 60 points? What did you learn from creating this video?
I think my stop motion came out really well! Although I moved around a little while making the pictures, you can still really see the movement of the clouds. I also went through and adjusted the brightness on the pictures that were too dark and it made it look really good! I would give in a 58 out of 60 since the pictures moved a little. I learned many things about stop-motion like that slowness of the movement and how it comes together and looks like its moving. Overall I worked really hard on this stop motion film!

What are you planning on doing for your stop-motion animation video? What story are you going to tell? How will your video be fun and different? Who is taking your photos? When are you taking your photos?
I am planning on taking pictures of the clouds as they move. I think it will be really cool because you will be able to see that clouds moving in almost fast motion. I am taking my own photos and I am taking them during class today.

What story will your storyboard tell? Explain in detail.
My storyboard will show the process of making a bowl of Cheerios! First, I showed getting out the box. Then, I showed pouring the Cheerios into a bowl. After, I showed pouring the milk into the bowl. Then, I showed putting the spoon into the bowl. Finally, I showed enjoying the Cheerios!

What photo editing tool(s) have you used so far on your 5 photos project? Do you like the tool? Is it easy to use? Hard to use? What's good about it? Whats bad about it? Give a detailed review of the tool.
I used the tool fotoflexer. I liked fotoflexer a lot because it had a ton of cool effects, but also had things you could use to fix your photo if it was bad quality. It had a cropping tool, red-eye tool, brightness tool, contrast tool, etc.

Journal - What are the pros and cons to photo editing? What are some examples of when photo editing is fun and appropriate? When can photo editing be inappropriate or too much?
Photo editing can be good if you need to do something like crop your photo or maybe put a filter on it to make it more to your liking. It can be too much if you put so much editing on it the picture doesn't even look like what it originally resembled.

What is your favorite web tool that we have used in class so far this year? Why is it your favorite web tool? What do you like about it? How can you use it again in the future?
My favorite web tool we have used in this class so far has been Google Docs. It has been my favorite because I like how you can access it at school and at home. Also I liked how you could share it with others and have them post comments. It really helped me improve my paper and edit it through Google Docs.

Global Issue Presentation

Monday, October 21st

Tell me about your weekend.
This weekend I didn't do much. On Friday night I went to the Blue Valley vs. Blue Valley Southwest football game. Blue Valley won 47-3, so that was awesome! On Saturday morning I had to go to work at 8 a.m. and work until noon. On Sunday, I also had to work. I didn't get to do much this weekend but I made a lot of money working!

What makes a presentation memorable? What makes a presentation stand out and not boring? How are you going to make your presentation better than anyone else? How will you make it unique? Explain.
I think there are lots of things that can make a presentation memorable. One that I personally think is a good quality is a lot of visuals. I like visuals because it catches the person's eye and can leave the image in the person's mind. A visual can also carry information such as a graph. In my presentation I'm going to have some very interesting facts and statistics that will be interesting. I will also have a few visuals.

What did you learn from the Ted Talk yesterday? Did you find it interesting or accurate? Explain.
I learned about how technology affects us and our social skills. It talked about how technology can be a good thing and really help us throughout our life, but it also can take away a lot of our communication and relationship skills. Instead of having a seat down face-to-face talk with someone, we know just send a text. That personal interaction we are losing affects us more than we think.

What do you love about the "digital age" that we currently live in? What do you dislike about it? What are positives ways you use technology in your life? What are some things that come along with technology that you don't like? Explain.
I think the digital age is good to live in because of all the technology that is available for us to use. We use technology so much every single day and without it our lives would be totally different. Something I would say I dislike about it is how it effects our social skills since we all communicate through technology now. Also some kids use technology to do things like cyber-bully. Overall I think that technology is very important in our society today.

Tell me about your Homecoming weekend (whether you went to the activities or not!). Tell me about what you did over the weekend.
This weekend I traveled to Phoenix Arizona. On my trip I visited Arizona State University. It was really cool and I enjoyed visiting. Also my mom's best friend, Jennifer, had her 50th birthday party too. We stood at her house over the weekend and I had a really good time at the big party. Overall the weekend was a huge success! I had a ton of fun and enjoyed being out in the sun.

What are you weekend plans?
My plans this weekend are to go to the football game tonight against Blue Valley North, then get up tomorrow morning and go to St.Luke South hospital for a community services project! I'm not sure what else I will do; I will probably make more plans as the weekend progresses.

Most students view siting work as 'a pain in the butt'. How do you feel about it? Is it necessary? When is it appropriate to cite work? What's the importance of it?
I think that siting can be a pain. I don't mind just copy and pasting the hyperlink, but I really really don't like to do the MLA citations because they are so much work. The importance of having the link cited is so you can credit the information you are using to the author. I think its appropriate to just cite the hyperlink anytime you are using direct information from a website.

What is your favorite book, magazine, or publication? Why?
My favorite book is Into the Wild because it has a really good message about intelligent rich high school graduate who gives up everything he has to go live in the wild. It's made in the format of a journal he wrote while in the wild and it's really cool to hear his thoughts and emotions. I also liked it because it is based off a true story.

Do you enjoy writing? What kind of writing do you enjoy? Why is writing an essential skill in life? How will you use this skill in the future?
I enjoy some writing. I don't like to write fictional stories as much as factual essays because I'm not as good at creative thinking. Writing skills are definitely an essential in life because it is how you can communicate with others. You will use your writing skills all through college and even after in your career. Almost every job involves some type of writing skill. Another importance of writing is you will need to it in order to get your job in the first place even if your job doesn't involve writing.

What is creating an outline for a paper important? Do you think it helps you personally? How would you prefer to outline a paper - pen and paper or an online tool? Is there a different way you know if that would prefer to organize your thoughts?
I think creating an outline is important because it can help you format your paper and organize it. It will improve your paper and make you be able to type your paper fast and have it well organized. Personally I like to outline a paper with pen and pencil then type after, but I don't mind using online tools also.

Tell me about your weekend. Where did you go? What did you do?
This weekend I worked Saturday morning from 8 in the morning to noon at Lionsgate Pet Hospital. After that I came home and took a nap until about 6. Saturday night I went to hang out with a group of friends and it was really fun! Sunday I had to go back into work to clean and take care of the cats we have staying at our work while the office was closed. Sunday I also had to do all my homework, and that was what i did this weekend!

Who do you look up to in life? Why? What have they done to help you or guide you?
I look up to my older brother because we are a lot of like and think very similarly. He is 4 years older than me so he always gives me good advice about what is to come in the future and how to handle certain situations. He has helped me a lot with high school and college planning since he is already experienced high school and is now enrolled in college at the University of Kansas.

What is good email etiquette and why is it essential in the "real" world? How can having good email etiquette put you ahead? Good email etiquette can make you look intelligent and well informed about what you are talking about. It can put you ahead by making you look smarter or ever superior to the person you are emailing. It is very important for your job, school, college, and any business related subject that you would need to look well educated.

If there was one big global issue in the world that you could fix, what would it be? A cure for cancer? Save the rain forest? Stop pollution? Think about it and then write about it. Why would you choose that specific issue?

If I could fix one global issue I would find a cure for cancer because cancer causes 1 out of 3 deaths every year. If there was a cure for cancer we could save so many people every year. Think of all the friends and family you have lost from cancer. I bet almost every single person you know can name at least one person they know that cancer has taken their life. Think of how many people would be saved if there was a cure for cancer!

Tuesday, September 3rd

On Friday we discussed Public Service Announcements. In your own words tell me what they are and what their purpose is. If you could create a PSA what would your topic be? Why?
A public service announcement is an announcement that is non profited and usually has a set cause that is positive. An example of a public service announcement would be no texting and driving, second-hand smoke, drug abuse, global warming, health related, etc. If I had to make a public service announcement I would make it about smoking because it is something I strongly disapprove and there would be a lot of medical facts I could use.

Who am I presentation

Wednesday, August 28th

Journal - What are some qualities of a good presentation? How can you make a boring presentation interesting? Explain.
I think some good qualities of a presentation are to keep it short and sweet. You don't want it to be so long that it is boring your audience. I think another good qualities is to present like you are having a conversation with another person, not just reading a script. Something else to make a good presentation is to include visuals and then talk about the visuals. Lots of people learn visually and it is easier to tell someone a story when they have something to look at to make a picture of it in their head.

Friday, August 23th

Journal - What is the importance of online safety and protecting your information? What do you do to protect yourself online? Share an experience you or someone you know has had with online safety.
The importance of online safety I think is you don't want people to know so much about you. You should never have your address or phone number on an online site because you never know who is going to be able to get a hold of it. You should keep your information really broad online cause you never actually know who you are talking to anyway. I don't have any personal experiences with problems with online safety but I have seen movies and shows about people who pretend to be someone they aren't. Some will trick people into thinking they are a different gender, age, race, or even post fake pictures of another person. This just shows that you may never know who you are talking to and how dangerous giving out your information can be!

Monday, August 26th

Journal - Tell me if you agree with this statement and then explain why or why not. "Images on the internet are 'free game' - if someone posted I should be able to use it.
I think that if you post something to the internet then you are giving it out to anyone out their without privacy. Anybody can save your post. On the other hand you shouldn't be able to use another persons post because that would be copy writing and you can get in really big trouble for that.

Wednesday, August 21st

Journal - Tell me what you know about Web 2.0. List example Web 2.0 sites. Are you on any sites that let you “post” information? What are those sites? How often do you use them? What do you post on them? Web 2.0 sites are website that you can post information onto. Examples of web 2.0 sites are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, Email, Myspace, Wanelo, Vine, Google, Youtube, etc. Web 2.0 sites that I use are Twitter, Instagram, Vine, Yahoo Email, StumbleUpon, and Wanelo. I use twitter and Vine the most, I would have to say I at least check it everyday on my phone. I will usually just post on twitter about whatever is going on that day, but I usually just use twitter to read other peoples tweets. I don't really ever post on vine unless I can find something funny to post but I usually just watch others videos!

Tuesday, August 20th

Journal - After watching the short clip of Ashton Kutcher's acceptance speech what did you take away from his advice? What does this quote mean to you "Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you, and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use."
What I took away from Ashton's speech was to not let other influence your life and your decisions. He talked about how being smart is an important trait to have and that you aren't just put in a world that is already been made by other people but to build you own world. He talks about taking opportunities and how it can be portrayed a lot like hard work. He says that because it takes hard work to come upon another opportunity. The quote "Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you, and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use." mean to me that you shouldn't be influenced by only others, but be an influence to others. The quote explains what it means to be a leader in a positive way.
